im a huge harley fan and i LOVE your site. thought out real well and i like your essays....you "get" the harley/joker complex.
Hello.
I wanted to send you a message to let you know I think your JokerxHarley site is fantastic. I absolutely love it.
While a lot of people find the whole D/s or Daddy/daughter relationships odd (or at least that's what they say), that's what attracts me to these people. I have long been fascinated with these types of relationships and to be honest, I think I'd prefer them to the kind of relationships a lot of people, if not most people, are having now-a-days. Have I ever participated in one on a day to day basis? No. But not because I see anything wrong with it. I am a professional college student who, frankly, doesn't have the time.
Either way, I really feel, that on both sides, that is the core of the relationship between these two people. Think back to the end of the Batman: The Animated Series episode "Harlequinade". The part where, after subduing Batman and Robin, she did her trademark squeak and jumped into The Jokers arms, thrilled to see him and started whining about Batman keeping her captive in his "bad old car", and he replied, "awwwww...". I think that moment was what solidified this as a Daddy/daughter relationship to me. She views Joker as the man who protects and takes care of her (her Daddy) and she was essentially "telling" on Batman. I think that those few seconds illustrate how Harley lives in their relationship all the time. I just don't see their relationship as existing any other way. There is more to their relationship than just Joker seeing Harley simply as a sidekick or having someone to manipulate and control. Don't get me wrong, power, control and manipulation is a huge part of it. But I don't think the Harley/Joker relationship would exist if Harley was male. He chose her for a reason. There is a definate difference between Harley as a sidekick to Joker and Robin as a sidekick to Batman.
I also agree with you that there is probable sexual contact between these two. He "gets off" on controling and manipulating her and I believe sexual control and domination is a natural extension of that, even if it means denying her sex. Which judging by what I saw in "Mad Love"...he does practive at times.
Then there is the whole whoopie cushon thing.
I've not had a chance to read the comic books as I have only discovered these two within the last few weeks, but once my money is freed up from the expenses of summer classes, I intend to at least track down Mad Love. While I do enjoy the animated episodes, even having put some of the Harley centered ones on my iPod, I feel like I am getting a watered down version for younger eyes. I am anxious to see these two in all their uncensored demented glory. I discovered Harley when I recently purchased Lego Star Wars...which caused me to download the Lego Batman demo off of Xbox Live. I picked the "play as the villan" option and that was the first time I had ever even seen Harley. The Jokers mannerisms are common pop culture knowledge so while I didn't know who she was..I had an idea of what she was...if that makes sense. I am glad I made this discovery as the character, and the couple as a whole, are just fasicinating.
On a side note, while the death of Heath Leadger was sad on many levels, the biggest one being that he had a young child, I am very dissapointed to know we will never see how his Joker would have handled the Harley situation. I think that would have been fascinating.
Anyway, the site is great.
I've bookmarked it on my home and work PCs, as well as my iPod. Keep up
the good work.

Dear Harley Quinn Haven,
I have very much enjoyed
reading your deliberations on the complex relationship between the Joker
and Harley. Like yourself, or so it would seem, I find their relationship
quite compelling and exciting. I suppose I must be a kinkster' then since
this, as you have so aptly termed, non 'heteronomative' relationship, has
completely drawn me into the DCAU world. I am new to the whole comic reading
process and have been on visiting your website was greatly astonished by
your insightfulness with regards to this relationship. I'd really love
to be able to converse with you in more depth, especially after I
have gained a better understanding of the characters of the Joker and Harley
- I have only just ordered Mad Love and hope to win my bid on a copy of
the Batman; Harley Quinn any day now! It would mean a lot to me if you
considered discussing this relationship with me. I haven't got anyone to
geek out with on this matter just yet, so it would be awesome to do so
with someone who shares the same degree of passion for this subject and
can articulate themselves in such an enthralling an eloquent manner. I
too very much agree that the relationship has so many possibilities for
both characters, especially given the evidence you have shown regarding
the Bruce Timm drawing of the Joker and Harley's sexual exploits! If the
Joker is able to give pleasure to Harley in such a way, could this be why
he withdraws form her in public life? Perhaps he is ashamed or embarrassed
by his sexuality? It also gives a deeper understanding to why Harley loves
her 'puddin' so deeply, since he does give her intimate pleasure and this
must endear her to him regardless of his apparent abuse of her.
Hope to hear from you soon!
Joanna
Princessbee,
I'm just writing to thank you for your superawesome website www.jokerxharley.com.
I'm one of those people who only had vague impressions about what the Batman universe was- I hadn't even heard of the Joker! And then I saw The Dark Knight and nearly had a heart attack. Loved him instantly, for reasons which I understand intimately- but can't seem to explain to anyone who doesn't get it. So, of course, I simply had to learn everything about him. However, disappointingly, nobody seemed to really know all that much...
And then during my researching on the internet I stumbled across this character called Harley Quinn. I was in hysterics, because I'd already invented a very similar character in my head, (after watching TDK for the eighth time), and was ecstatic to realise that the writers had already come up with her.
But everything I was finding said that she was this blonde-bimbo. Just some stupid, childish, punching-bag for the big nasty ol' Joker. I was absolutely heartbroken. Then I found your website Harley's Haven- which lead me to JokerxHarley. I'm trying to find words for how grateful I am for your brilliant site. I've just finished reading the very last word, on the very last page, (although I was distracted for a while by your fanfiction recommendations- an extra thanks for introducing me to the works of MadPuppy, Sno-Chan and Gladrial, among many others, by the way) and I'm so happy that my original impressions were wrong. Once you prompted me to look deeper, I could see that Harley is so much more complex than I ever could of imagined. And so perfect for Mistah J!
I was particularly blown away by the relationship evolution section. It really explained the whole relationship perfectly- totally banishing any straying antagonism towards Harley. It is also wonderful because no matter who I threaten I can't get my hands on any of the comics, all graphic novels have to be ordered from overseas, (which takes forever- I'm still waiting for the first one I ordered) and my youtube doesn't want me to watch the Animated Series- so a billion heartfelt thankyous. *Hugs*
So yeah, I'm rabbiting on a lot... I basically just wanted to give you my sincerest thanks. I kinda really owe my deepening levels of obsession with this fascinating relationship to you. Congrats from converting me from my Gotham hating ways. Also you favourited my one-shot poem on Deviantart. That was nice. *More hugs for you and your awesomeness*
Lots of Love,
HaHaHarley
PS- I'm currently reading the sixteenth chapter of Arkham Asylum: Tainted Love. Your take on Harley's origin story is truly a compelling read. It's hard to find writings that look deeply at the psychological manipulation of Dr Harleen Quinzel. Well-done, it's brilliant. *Squee!*
Oh, one last thing. Have you read Simply Makes You Stranger by agantofchaos ? The story brings Harley into the Nolan-verse, in a way that I think stays true to her character, but also the TDK world. I would highly recommend it. Ten stars out of five.
You have very amazing articles and websites, I just wanted to say that I agree with you very much in the JokerxHarley website.
oh my goodness. I am a huge fan of this pairing, and you, I think, are the most dedicated, educated, and just amazing person on this planet to represent them. I've read you fanfics (which are amazing), and seen your other sites (which are also amazing), and I have just been blown away. I mean, you are just the best. Keep up all of the good work!

Hello,
My name is Rachel and I've been reading your site for awhile as well as some other sites. Currently, I'm taking a North American Comic Art course at UMASS Amherst and will shortly be writing a paper about Mad Love for my final. By exploring your site I discovered that you have several theories on J/H relationship and mentioned that you wrote a paper on them. I was wondering if I could either cite your website as a source or if you could forward a copy of your paper to me so I could cite you. If you'd like, I'll send you a copy of my finished paper so you know that I'm not plagiarising you.
If not, I understand. there's
just not alot of academic analysis on Batman so I'm exploring every avenue
I can.
Thanks for your time.
-Rachel-
Your site is so great! I never had thought of analyzing the relationship between Harley & Joker but it’s is so interesting! Thanks for putting it together! J
